house fire pet safety

Did you know that millions of family pets are affected by house fires each year and information from the National Fire Protection Association suggests that well over a thousand home fires are started accidentally by cats and dogs?

Have you ever asked yourself what would happen if you had a fire in your home?

It’s hard to imagine, we know. But how would you communicate that you owned a pet to emergency personnel? How could you ensure that your pet(s) gets out safely?

Before we offer you a smart solution for these questions, please take a quick moment to read over these preventative measures that you can immediately take.

Remember, prevention is key!

  • Install smoke alarms on each floor of your home and make sure to regularly test the batteries.
  • Make sure that you have pet-proofed your home from potential fire dangers such as wires, cords and flammable materials.
  • Always extinguish candles and fireplaces and never leave them unattended.
  • Always turn off appliances and make sure cords are out of reach of curious pets.
  • Unplug and roll cords of any unused electronics.

An Easy, Smart Solution!

At Jet Pet Resort we understand that your pet is, in fact, a beloved member of the family. And if the unthinkable happened, we want to make sure that Vancouver and Richmond’s first responders are aware that you have a pet inside the premises. That is why we have developed the ‘Please Save My Pet’ window sticker.

Save My PetThis attractive and immediately identifiable sticker will let your lower mainland neighbours and first responders know that there is a pet inside that may need rescuing! Our pets should never be an afterthought! We suggest placing this sticker in a high visibility area – like your front door or a front entrance window.

Also, take the time to talk to a trusted neighbour and let them know that in case of an emergency, and if they can, alert any emergency responders to the fact that there is a pet in the home.

The ‘Please Save My Pet’ sticker is FREE to all guests of Jet Pet Resort and available for pick up during your cat or dog’s next visit. Make sure to get yours!
