There are a variety of tips and tricks to help keep your pet happy. Jet Pet Resort has pulled together a list of the top things to help ensure that your pet lives a happy and healthy life.
How to keep your pet happy!
Comfort
Making sure they are comfy at home is the first and most important step. Keep your pet happy by asking the following questions – Do they have enough toys? A special blanket or crate? Animals are like babies – they always need something to keep them occupied!
Whether it just be a tennis ball or have access to their favourite blanket you are guaranteed to keep them happy if you are unable to give them attention at a certain time.
Love
Showering them with love and attention is another great way to keep your pet happy.
Even just 15 minutes at a time will make them thrilled! Just going for a walk and spending time with them, letting them sleep in your bed with you. Or curled up on your lap watching TV. Animals love all of that extra human attention! Try not to yell around them as this will get them all worked up and can really upset them.
Social Activity
Whether it be a puppy, kitten, or an elderly pet, maintaining your pet’s activity levels will help keep your pet happy.
For cats it’s as simple as throwing a toy around the house or letting them chase string. As for dogs; they should be walked many times throughout the day to keep their joints moving.
Learn about the breed before you get one – Different breeds of animals require different attention and extra needs.
Whether it be a long-haired cat – you will need to constantly be brushing them. If you have a very active dog, you will have to have the time and energy to keep up with them. This will definitely make your pet happier in the long run knowing that will be cared for in the correct way! Take a look at our top 5 breeds for children!
Nutrition
Feed your pet a balanced diet – there are many different types of food out there, depending on
energy levels, breeds, ages, and even health problems.
You should also pay close attention to the nutrients; some dogs need more protein than others, and some may need a specific diet for their weight. Make sure to also keep track of potentially toxic foods for your dog to prevent illness.
Health
Last BUT not least, take your furry friends to the vet to keep your pet happy. Just like humans, our pets need to be checked by a vet at least once a year just like humans to ensure they are healthy through and through!
It is as simple as just checking temperatures, ears, teeth, eyes, and vaccines.
By providing comfort and love, lots of physical and social activity, gaining knowledge of the breed beforehand, feeding a balanced diet and having a yearly visit with their favourite vet, you are fulfilling all the needs to keep your pet happy.
